Former NASCAR star Danica Patrick has given her seal of approval to President Donald Trump’s decision to revoke Dr. Anthony Fauci’s security detail.
In an Instagram Story Friday evening, Patrick shared a news report about Fauci’s security detail being lost with a quote from Trump, adding the caption “Damn, it’s true.”
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) requested security for Fauci in 2020 to protect him from threats he received as the top health official and public spokesperson during the COVID-19 pandemic. But this detail was withdrawn Thursday evening.
“I think, you know, when you work for the government, at some point your security services disappear and, you know, you can’t have them forever,” Trump said of the move. “We removed other people as well, but you can’t have a security guard for the rest of your life because you work for the government.”

When asked if he would feel partially responsible if something happened to Fauci, Trump said he wouldn’t do it.
“No. You know, they all made a lot of money. They can hire their own security,” Trump said. “Certainly, I wouldn’t take responsibility for it.”

Patrick has been one of his sport’s most outspoken figures in support of Trump and Republicans over the past year. She recently suggested that it must be difficult for California residents to accept the way their state is being run after the government’s response to the Los Angeles wildfires.
After Janisse Quiñones, CEO and chief engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), said Wednesday that crews were having difficulty maintaining water pressure on the system, this which allows water to be pushed into fire hydrants, Patrick responded with a message on X.

“California has 840 miles of coastline and 3,000 lakes and reservoirs. Why don’t they have enough water to put out all the fires?” she wrote about X.
“At some point, I have to imagine it becomes difficult for die-hard Cali lovers to accept the state of their state and the way it is run.”
She then wrote that it was time for Governor Gavin Newsom to resign, using the term “Newscum.”
In October, Patrick confirmed in an interview on “Jesse Watters Primetime” that she would vote for president for the first time in 2024, and it would be for Trump.
“It’s like voting for Donald Trump it’s like the vote of reason. It feels like a rational, reasonable choice,” Patrick told Watters.

Patrick added that she doesn’t understand why “MAGA,” or Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again,” is considered an “insult” by some.
“I especially have the impression that what this country could be if it came to power, with all the extraordinary and brilliant people who support it, I have the impression that this can not only make it great again America, but also make it bigger than ever,” she said.
In that same interview, she expressed her belief that transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports, which have become a key campaign issue for Trump and the Republicans in 2024.
“It’s completely wrong,” Patrick said of transgender athletes being allowed to compete as women. “And this is coming from someone who was a woman who played essentially a man’s sport. A man is just different. Their hormones are different. Their bodies are different.”
