Former NFL player, coach Dick Jauron died at 74

Dick Jauron, the former head coach of two different NFL franchises, died on Saturday. He was 74 years old.

The Chicago Bears have confirmed death. Jauron was the head coach of the Bears from 1999 to 2003.

He has already received a cancer diagnosis, the daily element of Massachusetts reported.

He became the head coach of the Buffalo Bills in 2006, a role he kept until 2009. The following season, Jauron was appointed defensive back coach of the Philadelphia Eagles under Andy Reid.

Jauron was a two -sports star in Yale in the early 1970s, and he was drafted by the Strait Lions in the NFL draft and the Cardinals of St. Louis in the amateur draft of the Major Baseball League. He finally made football his pursuit for life, starting with five seasons as a defensive in Detroit and three others with the Bengals of Cincinnati before his retirement in 1980.

The well appreciated Jauron went to the coach and five years later, was hired by the Bills as a defensive coach. He continued to train the defensive rear in Green Bay and became a friend with Reid, who was an assistant offensive line and a tight coach.

Jauron had only one record of victories in five seasons with the Bears, winning the NFC North in 2001 before losing against the Eagles – then trained by Reid – during the divisional round of the playoffs.

He finished with a 60-82 file and a place in the playoff series on parts of 10 seasons as a chief trainer.

Jauron’s death occurred only two days after the Bears announced the death of Virginia Halas McCaskey, who inherited his father’s franchise, George Halas, and spent more than four decades as the main owner.
