- Fortinet provides cybersecurity education to children before cybercriminals bring chaos to their devices
- Children’s digital security teaching can be more intelligent than counting solely on tools
- Gamified lessons and friendly tools can ensure that cybersecurity training tools
While cybersecurity threats continue to degenerate worldwide, Fortinet has launched an ambitious initiative to approach a critical blindness: the lack of education for digital security for children.
The company’s new Safety and training awareness service: educational edition The initiative aims to introduce cybersecurity fundamentals into each Australian class, covering primary and secondary schools.
A recent Fortinet report has revealed more than half (56%) of IT managers cite a lack of security awareness as concern, while 97% think that more training would help reduce cyber attacks. The objective of this initiative is simple: promoting digital resilience before children become targets.
Build a safer digital future through schools
“Technology is increasingly anchored in all aspects of our daily life. The creation of cyber-resilience begins with an early education, and Fortinet undertakes to equip students and educators with the skills they need to operate in complete safety and online manager, “said Rob Keast, Director of Partnership Development at Fortinet.
The program includes interactive videos, gamified learning experiences and the educator’s full resources, which makes it accessible not only to students but also to teachers who may not have previous expertise in cybersecurity.
While calls for more computers in schools develop and digital learning becomes the norm, this initiative seems well timed. The educators responded positively.
“Cybersecurity is no longer a subject reserved for computer classes; It is an essential life skill.
“This gives educators confidence and tools to conduct important online security conversations while helping students strengthen the digital conscience they will need throughout their studies and their future careers,” she added.
This decision is part of the broader training initiative of Fortinet, which also includes certifications of free network safety experts (NSE) and technical programs for higher education establishments.
“THE Safety and training awareness service: educational edition represents a significant step towards digital confidence in the education sector – combining without cost access with flexible delivery and teachers’ support, “said Rob Rashotte, vice -president of the Fortinet Training Institute.
However, although the intentions are laudable, the program raises questions. Can a school lesson alone monitor the pace of the landscape of rapidly evolving threats?
Even the best software and antivirus software and control applications are fighting with zero-day threats, so it is not certain that a study program, as well designed, can prepare students well for what awaits us.
Fortinet’s objective to form a million people by 2026 is ambitious and commendable, but it is important to remember: awareness does not always guarantee behavior change.
