Quetta:
At least four people were injured on Sunday when an improvised explosive device (IED) derailed five coaches from Jaffar Express to Peshawar at Spezand station in Mastung, according to Pakistan Railways (PR) officials.
The explosion struck a railway near Spezand station, derailing 39-UP Jaffar Express Train, which extends from Quetta to Peshawar.
The five passengers were injured minor, said public relations officials, adding that the rescue teams, including railway staff, were immediately sent to the site.
The federal minister of railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi firmly condemned the attack, swearing that such acts of cowardly terrorism would never dissuade the determination of the nation.

The Jaffar Express had left for Peshawar at 9:00 am and crossed Spezand station when the IED struck. A rescue train was sent to the station to transport the blocked passengers.
The security forces and the police completed the region. The bombs elimination team erases the site, after which passengers will be transferred to Quetta station via the rescue train.
This is not the first time that the Jaffar Express has been targeted. A similar attack in November 2024 cost the life of 25 people and left 50 more injured.
More recently, Jaffar Express narrowly escaped an attack on the road towards Quetta last week when a bomb planted near the track of Sibi station would have disappeared just after the passage of the passenger train.
RP authorities have confirmed the media explosion and said the explosion occurred near the outside signal of the track connecting Balutchistan to the rest of the country.
