Four men installing the electrocuted panel in Shahdara

Lahore:

Four workers died on site after being electrocuted when installing a roof panel of a store in Shahdara.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday on Dalat Khan Road when the workers were trying to install the board of directors on the roof.

According to rescue officials, one of the workers accidentally hit an electric wire, causing the current through the metal sign and electrocuting the four men.

Three of the deceased were identified as Nadeem, 45, Nadeem, 25, and Muhammad Awais Haider, 26 years old. The fourth victim, around 25, could only be identified the evening.

“Upon their arrival at the scene, our teams found that the four individuals had already succumbed to the electrocution,” said a rescue manager 1122.

“The bodies were transferred to the morgue of the Mayo hospital for legal formalities,” he added.

According to the police report prepared by Asi Ghulam Hussain of the Shahdara police station, the workers were trying to install two advertising advice measuring about 17 feet in length and 13 feet wide. The incident occurred when the large brand came into contact with a main transmission line of 11,000 kV while being hoisted on the roof.

The police report indicates that the workers had brought the panels of the Karim market in the same evening and were trying to install them in the dark without appropriate coordination with the Lahore Electric Supply Company or obtaining the necessary permits of the parks and the horticultural authority and the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore.

The authorities dissipated a perception on social networks according to which the electrocution had occurred while the traders suppressed the panels to avoid action.

“This accident has nothing to do with the operations of the Pera force,” said a clarification, referring to the authority for the application and regulation of Punjab. “The merchant and the workers did not remove the panels but installed two new advertising advice without a license in the darkness of the night.”

The bodies of the identified victims were given to their families after completing the legal formalities.

Police said they were pursuing investigations into the circumstances that had led to the incident.

Local authorities have urged traders and entrepreneurs to provide security measures and obtain the necessary approvals before installing any signaling, especially in areas with airline supply lines.

Meanwhile, a roof of a house under construction collapsed near Bedian Road, leading to the loss of two lives and leaving a seriously injured person.
