Pakistan Railways will operate four special trains from the 25 of Ramadan to accommodate passengers traveling for Eid, Federal Minister of Railway Hanif Abbasi announced on Monday.
Addressing the media outside the Parliament, Abbasi assured that improvements in rail services would soon be visible.
He added that a briefing had been carried out on the performance of the railway department and the upcoming plans.
The Minister recognized financial losses in the sector and has promised efforts to reduce the deficit.
He also discussed the reports of defective luggage scanning machines in stations, declaring that a meeting would be held soon to solve the problem.
Abbasi highlighted the need to improve rail safety, admitting current measures. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improve operations in accordance with the Prime Minister’s directives.
Hanif Abbasi has recently been inducted in the federal office while new portfolios have been announced.
According to the notification of the cabinet division, Khawaja Asif will continue to serve as Minister of Defense, while Zam Nazir Tarar was assigned to the Ministry of Jume, Justice and Rights Human.
In addition, Pakistan railways announced revised working hours for booking offices for Ramazan last week, according to which the morning quarter will work from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm, while the evening quarter will work from 12:30 to 5.30 p.m.
In addition, on Friday, there will be a break for Friday prayers from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
However, reservation offices that operate in a single quarter work will continue with their existing working hours. The new schedules will remain in force until 15 Ramazan, after which all the booking offices will return to their previous hours.
