Dera Ghazi Khan:
Four terrorists belonging to prohibited Pakistan of Tehrik-I-Taliban (TTP) were killed during an armed confrontation with the police of the Kot Mubarak region, near the border of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-Punjab last week, the security officials announced on Monday.
Among the dead were the TTP commander, Saifullah, also known as Abu Basir Al-Shami, and his assistant Muhammad Anas. The suspects would have planned terrorist activities in the region when the police engaged them in a targeted operation, added sources.
The security forces have recovered a cache of weapons, explosive materials and important documents for the possession of activists, suggesting advanced preparations for subversive acts.
The TTP also confirmed the death of its intelligence chief of the Punjab province, Saifullah.
According to sources, Saifullah was a resident of Ahmedpur Sharqia in Punjab and played a central role in the coordination of militant operations in southern Punjab. Its presence was linked to an increase in the two militant attacks and the intensification of security operations in the region.
His murder is considered an important blow for the operational network of TTP in Punjab. The operation is considered a major success in the disruption of militant activities along the interprovincial border region.
