Four women died after the roof of a house in Dak Lam Shah in Bajur, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) collapsed on Wednesday, trapping several people under the rubble.
According to a statement released by Rescue 1122, medical and rescue teams were dispatched immediately after receiving the report, adding that initial reports indicated that five people were trapped under the rubble.
“1122 rescue workers carried out operations to free the injured from the debris. The victims received preliminary cardiopulmonary resuscitation in a rescue ambulance before being transferred in critical condition to the Khar district hospital. There, doctors confirmed that two women and two girls had died,” the statement said.

He said the victims were identified as the wives of Abdullah Jan and Rehmatullah, as well as the daughters of Rasool Khan and Aziz, while the injured included Rasool Khan’s wife.
However, authorities said the cause of the incident had not yet been determined and the investigation was ongoing.
Last month, at least 17 people died due to roof or wall collapse due to heavy rains in KP. Bannu recorded the highest number of casualties, with eight dead, including seven children and one woman, and 42 injured. Abbottabad reported five deaths, including four children. Kohat saw two deaths, one in North Waziristan, and in Battagram, a woman was killed.
Several incidents of roof collapses have been recorded in Bannu. In Dad Kachlot village, a roof collapsed at Sher Muhammad Khan’s house, killing three children: Asif, nine, Umrah, six, and Javeria, three. In Kotka Ghulam Qadir, the roof of a community center veranda collapsed, killing two people and injuring 39 others.
In Mama Kheil, the wall of a house collapsed, killing two children, Abu Sufyan, 11, and Wajahatullah, eight. At Shamdi Khel, Miryan Road, the roof of a room of Iqbal’s house collapsed, killing Iqbal’s mother.
