A massive, free, open-world role-playing game (RPG) Where the winds meet is heading to mobile platforms next week.
Following a successful launch on PC and console that saw the game surpass over nine million total players and an impressive 250,000 concurrent users on Steam, developer EverStone Studios has confirmed that a mobile version is set to launch on December 12.
Available on Android and iOS devices, this edition of the game will feature an all-new user interface designed to support mobile gaming. This is not a lite port, however, and will feature full cross-platform progression and cross-play with friends.
Look on it
Set in a fictionalized vision of the historical period of the Five Dynasties and the Ten Kingdoms, Where the winds meet is one of the most ambitious games I’ve ever played.
I visited the studio in Hangzhou, China, earlier this year to learn more about the production process behind the game, and gain insight into everything from its unique art direction to its many mechanics.
As a free package, it’s incredibly expansive, with over 150 hours of content to dive into, ranging from meaty to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice–style battles with magical abilities in carefully constructed dungeons, puzzles, fishing, mahjong and even a surprisingly addictive rhythm mini-game.
It’s a fantastic experience on PlayStation 5 and PC, so I’m certainly interested to see how it translates to a more portable format next week.
