A friend of Sarah Ferguson’s just made one thing clearer when it comes to the former duchess, namely where her loyalties lie after having to give up her title as Duchess of York due to Prince Andrew’s public statement.
For those who don’t know, the prince made this announcement following the publication of the memoirs. Nobody’s Daughter which contained shocking revelations, with intimate details about the prince’s relationship with Virginia Giuffre, then aged 17, which is denied.
“I vigorously deny the accusations against me,” he said in the final statement. But he noted: “In discussions with the King and my immediate and extended family, we concluded that the continued accusations about me were distracting from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.”
“I have decided, as I always have, to prioritize my duty to my family and my country. I stand by my decision of five years ago to retire from public life.”
With all of this out in the open, a close friend spoke out about Fergie’s emotions.
The friend in question, who wishes to remain anonymous, shared everything with Page six and said, “Sarah will always be by Andrew’s side” and “she will always have love for him.”
This is the case despite the title line, this pal noted because “Sarah is relaxed…it’s always been a courtesy title.”
It comes amid fears Fergie’s daughters are the ones facing the most vilification because of their parents’ links to the convicted sex offender.
So much so that according to royal commentator Phil Dampier: “I am told [Sarah Ferguson] is on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
He said Express United Kingdom“Sarah is doing poorly and that’s not surprising,” given the current predicament caused by the leaked Mail on Sunday email, Mr Dampier said. “She needed support and Jane was there for her when she needed it.”
Calls to permanently remove Prince Andrew’s titles:
Although Prince Andrew has already agreed to no longer use the titles or honors granted to him, some are calling for more permanent action.
These include the SNP’s Westminster leader, Stephen Flynn. According to a report from The Guardian Flynn believes that “if the Westminster parties remain stubbornly slow to remove Prince Andrew’s titles, the SNP will do everything in its power to force them to act.”
“Prince Andrew’s titles can only be removed by an Act of Parliament. Therefore, this SNP motion is a way of putting pressure on the UK Labor Government to bring forward this legislation immediately.”
“The only real question is what Keir Starmer’s government expects. The public knows it is the right thing to do, and more importantly, the victims at the heart of the Epstein scandal know it is the right thing to do. It must be done without any further excuses or further delays.”
