- Fujifilm should launch a half-ram digital camera called X-Half
- Online leaks suggest a 1 inch sensor, 10 mm f / 2.8 Objective and vertical LCD
- Teaser trailer advice during the coming release, with a line “ see soon ”
Fujifilm works on something special. If rumors are right, it is ready to publish a half-campaign digital camera that puts a contemporary touch in classic film photography format. We expect the half -X – and it could be the most unusual camera in Fujifilm for years.
Fujifilm recently teased the release of the new model in an official clip, with the slogan “half the waist, double in history”. This legend adds weight to online speculation according to which the camera will draw fixed half-campaign images using a digital sensor. A dark silhouette shown in this video also suggests that the half-adopt the retro analog style of recent Fujifilm cameras, including the X100Vi.
What can we expect from the half X? Fujifilm has teased an imminent version with the line “see you soon”, but we don’t know exactly when the camera is revealed. What we have is a list of disclosed specifications, shared by reliable online sources. Overall, they suggest that the half X will be a fun camera with a potentially viral retro attraction, designed to try smartphones photographers in the possession of the camera.
Here are five features that we plan to see on the strangest camera of 2025.
To watch
1. Half building photography
The characteristic of the half-xfort titles should be a half-ram photograph. Traditionally, this technique has enabled analog cameras to capture two portrait exhibitions on a single 35 mm film frame, giving photographers twice the number of fixed images of a roller. The resulting composite images have become known as “diptychs”, with two vertical scenes combined side by side.
Exactly how Fujifilm will perform this effect in a digital camera is not clear, but it should be the main selling point for half X. Based on information from anonymous sources, Fuji Rumors suggested that the new camera will allow you to press the shutter once to capture the first half of the image, then again to pull the second.
2. 1 inch sensor
Fuji Rumers also reported that the half-xfort will include a 1 inch sensor. This corresponds to its positioning as a premium point: this sensor size would be smaller than APS-C, allowing Fujifilm to pack the compact half-proportion, but always captures more light and details than the best camera phones.
There have been a lot of discussions on the sensor orientation. Several sources have suggested that it could be positioned vertically, allowing the native half-dolling of portrait which are then numerically composed in diptychs. This configuration would also lend itself to the creation of content: assuming that the camera has a standard mode, the vertical images are ideal for sharing on Social Medial.
3. Correction of 10 mm f / 2.8 lens
Recent leaks in Č™pec have suggested that the Fujiiflm half-frame camera will include a 10 mm fixed lens with an f / 2.8 opening. Combined with a 1 inch sensor, which would give it a complete 28 mm equivalent – a focal length that we saw wisely in other premium compacts, including the Ricoh Gr III. It is a natural adjustment for street photography and a familiar to smartphones users.
The f / 2.8 opening is slow enough for a fixed lens, in particular associated with a 1 inch sensor. This combination will limit both the low light performance and the shallow depth of the field effect. If it is correct, this probably reflects the positioning of the half X as a range and entry-level shoots fun rather than a serious photography tool.
4. Vertical LCD screen
Another rumor circulating online concerns the LCD screen. According to rumors of Fuji, the half-X will have at least one vertically oriented screen. Based on the trailer, we think we know why. In this clip, a provia film logo is visible at the back of the camera. We believe that it suggests that the half XF will have a preview of digital film preview to display the selected film mode, emotulating the physical equivalent found on certain analog cameras.
This is a feature that we have seen before: on the X-Pro 3, a mini display showed the chosen film simulation recipe. Given the base of half half on analog emulation, including a “film roll mode” which locks the parameters of 36 exhibitions, we would not be surprised to see an LCD dedicated to displaying the logo of the selected film. It may seem Gimmicky, but it looks greatly in hybrid analog aesthetics.
5. Optical viewfinder
The same goes for the suggestion that the half XF will include an optical viewfinder rather than an EVF. It would be another wink to half-ranged analog cameras, especially if it is vertically oriented (as it is on the Pentax 17, a recent renewal of the half-trame film format and one of the best movie cameras that you can buy in 2025).
With a dial in physical exposure compensation, an optical viewfinder could give users the impression that they are running on a film with an analog camera, despite the digital sensor inside. The question is how Fuji is able to execute and present this proposal, without the half-demi-se feeling like a novelty camera-which some purists already call it.
