Rawalpindi:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) (KP) Minister Ali Amin Gandapur as president of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) of the province was accepted, he appeared on Tuesday.
Gandapur, who also leads the provincial government led by the PTI, voluntarily resigned, with his resignation approved by the president of the PTI Barrister Gohar on the instructions of the founder of the Imran Khan party, sources revealed.
“Gandapur himself had asked Imran Khan to relieve him from the post, and the approval was granted accordingly,” added the sources.
It should be noted that barely two days ago, Gandapur had been removed from the post of president of PTI KP and Junaid Akbar appointed his replacement.
On Saturday, the PTI had announced a key change in leadership in the province, the chief minister Gandapur, unmissiant to the post of president of the PTI KP. He was succeeded by the president of the Committee of Public Accounts of the National Assembly (PAC), Junaid Akbar.
Announcing the change, the head of the PTI Salman Akram Raja clarified that Gandapur’s decision to resign was voluntary and would allow him to focus on his responsibilities as chief minister. Raja highlighted urgent challenges, including issues of law and order, as the main reason for change.
Pti rejects “disinformation”
In a related development, lawyer Gohar Ali Khan said that Imran Khan had rejected the “disinformation” circulating about the Gandapur dismissal as a provincial party president.
Addressing journalists outside of Adiala prison after meeting Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar said that the founder of the PTI categorically declared that false ideas were distributed over the leadership transition to KP.
