To say that Garmin upset his users with his new subscription service would be slightly. The company recently announced Garmin Connect +, a new paid premium level of its Connect application which offers new brilliant features on paid walls, including ideas fueled by AI and a performance dashboard for all the best Garmin watches.
It did not go well. Thousands of furious fans of Garmin took the news to Reddit, which required that customers take a stand.
The tumult was so intense that you may have missed what the subscription implies, so if you are at least a little curious or if you would enjoy free trial, here is what you get Garmin Connect Plus for $ 6.99 / £ 6.99 / at $ 12 per month or $ 69.99 / $ 69.9.99 £ 120 at annual.
1. Active intelligence
Garmin Connect + obliges you to training information powered by AI. Garmin says that you will get personalized suggestions based on health and activity data. The overviews have friendly summaries on your sleep, your battery and more. As you can imagine of AI, ideas would have improved over time. Here is an example:
You fell 1 hour and 23 minutes from your need for sleep, but you still managed to load your 57 -point battery. You are ready to exercise today, but balance it with rest to avoid the bottom.
2. Performance dashboard
Connect + offers a complete view of training data, available on the website, which allow you to compare your fitness and health data over time. The examples presented include your operating duration comparison, time in electric areas, average pace and distance over time.
3. Live activity
Your smartphone will now offer you the heart rate in real time, pace, rehearsals and videos for your indoor training sessions (such as strength and yoga) when associated with compatible smartwatch.
4. Exclusive coaching guide
When you use Garmin Run Coach or Garmin Cycling Coach, you will get coaches’ expert advice, including educational content and videos.
5. Improved Livetrack
Starting an activity on a compatible device will now inform your friends and family by SMS, and you can create a personalized Livetrack profile page to follow.
This seems to have changed the existing text functionality for Garmin users, and we have concerns that this could have pushed some of the existing LiveTrack features behind a paid wall. We contacted Garmin to confirm.
6. Social characteristics
Finally, social features include exclusive badges, some of them are worth an increased amount of points and badge challenges that you can use to customize your profile.
Not much?
The Garmin Connect + subscription is not extremely expensive, but it is not cheap either. As you can see, you do not get a huge amount for your money, and Garmin was not exactly on the details of these features – this is really all the information we have at the moment.
As such, it is possible that we obtain more detailed information on some of these features in the coming days and weeks.
On paper, Garmin Connect + looks pretty thin, and although this is not the main reason why people oppose its deployment, I must imagine that it is a factor.
