ISLAMABAD:

On Tuesday, a gas explosion in the basement canteen of the Supreme Court left 12 injured, including two in critical condition, requiring a rapid rescue and evacuation operation.

According to initial reports, the explosion occurred in the air conditioning plant installed in the basement of the canteen, shaking parts of the building and forcing lawyers and court staff to rush outside to safety.

Rescue teams immediately arrived at the scene and transferred the injured to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Emergency services said the explosion was caused by a leak in the air conditioning gas system, which ignited during maintenance work.
