GB presents the budget of RS148.63B for FY2025-26

The Gilgit-Baltistan government has presented a provincial budget for RS148.63 billion for the 2025-26 financial year, including a deficit of 6 billion rupees, Express News reported.

During the meeting of the Assembly on Monday, the Minister of Finance, the engineer Muhammad Ismail filed the budget, which offers a salary increase of 10% for government employees.

The budget allocates 8.82 billion rupees for non-development spending, while 3.7 billion rupees are reserved for development projects.

In addition, RS1.1 billion were offered for the projects of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP), with 400 million rupees specifically reserved for the Prime Minister under PSDP.

The government has set a target of tax without tax of 789.2 million rupees for the next fiscal year and has offered 2 billion rupees for the wheat subsidy.

Speaking on the benefits for the key sectors, the Minister of Finance said that 147 million rupees had been allocated to education, RS125 million for health – including 62 million rupees for the health health fund.

The budget also has 35 million rupees for agriculture, livestock and fishing, 9 million rupees for tourism and 10 million rupees for the information technology sector.
