- Geekom A9 Mega launches on Kickstarter with Ryzen Ai Max + 395 Processor
- Aluminum CNC compact chassis with double USB4 ports, extensive connectivity and strong cooling
- Supports up to 128 GB of memory and SSD 8 TO storage for AI workloads
Geekom announced the A9 MEGA, a compact mini PC propelled by the flagship processor Ryzen AI Max + 395 of AMD.
For those who keep a trace, this is the 20th product so far to present this Halo Strix chip of 16 hearts and 32 teas, and we are still waiting for Dell to show us what he could do.
Geekom brings the Mega A9 to the market via Kickstarter. The price is planned to start around $ 1,899, and although Geekom is an established name, donors must know that crowdfunding is not without risk.
A lot of ports
If you prefer to wait for the product to arrive in the geekom store, it is a good chance that it does not cost too much that the Kickstarter price, because the company often reduces its products shortly after the launch. For example, the Geekom A9 Max, which manages an AMD Ryzen AI 9 hx370, is generally at a price of $ 1,299 but is currently available for $ 999.
The maximum aluminum body of CNC A9 MEGA measures 171x171x71mm. Inside, the Ryzen Ai Max + 395 includes graphics Radeon 8060s and an NPU XDNA 2 capable of 126 highs.
With a support for up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X 8000 MHz memory, the integrated GPU can act as an accelerator with a large shared pool for AI models such as stable diffusion or lama.
The system can house two SSD M.2 PCIe 4.0, providing up to 8 TB of storage.
The cooling is managed by Iceblast 5.0, which uses two fans, copper turbacs and thermal controls to maintain a 120W TDP.
Geekom claims that the CPU, the GPU and the NPU can operate at the peak simultaneously without strangulation, and the wireless support includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Connectivity is what you could expect for a system of this size. The front includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C for data, a SD card location and a power button with integrated fingerprint sensor.
At the rear, there are two USB4-C-C ports supporting 40 Gbit / s with DisplayPort 2.1, two HDMI 2.1 FRL ports, two 2.5 GB Ethernet sockets, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 power socket 2, a USB 2.0, a 3.5 mm headset and a DC power input.
The A9 MEGA is preloaded with Windows 11 Pro and is compatible with Linux, because Geekom positions it as an alternative to traditional work stations and Apple Mac Studio.
Although details on wider availability remain unknown, the mini mini PC A9 looks like a competent option for compact and creative workloads.
