- Google deploys new vision features for Gemini Live
- The AI assistant can now “see” the screen of your phone or the camera flow
- These upgrades are fed by Project Astra, Google R&D umbrella
Google Gemini Live finally gets the view of sight. The technology giant has quietly started to deploy features that transform your humble smartphone into an all-up eye for its AI assistant.
The new capacities were discovered by a Reddit user who then shared a video of the functionalities in action. The upgrade allows Gemini to look through your screen or your camera goal and treat what he sees. The deployment marks the beginnings of the well -discussed and highly anticipated project by Google Astra.
Based on the video, Gemini’s “Eyes” can analyze your screen in real time via a “Share with Live” button. Gemini has long been able to digest static screenshots, but the update keeps a continuous look on your screen, looking at everything you are on your phone for better or for worse.
The other tool means that the eye of the camera of your gemini phone. Google has shown that AI can precisely discern colors and objects. The question of whether the final product corresponds to the platonic ideal of demos is not yet clear.

The new feature arrives first for subscribers Gemini Advanced paying $ 20 per month for the Google One plan with an additional AI. The deployment is notably democratic in the place where functionality appears, judging by the Xiaomi phone presented by the Reddit user. Google had previously suggested that the owners of Pixel and Galaxy S25 would have faster or better access to the ASTRA project.
Other AI assistants with similar vision tools exist, but they are mainly linked to third -party applications such as Microsoft Copilot, Chatgpt, Grok and even the new Huggingsnap Face application. Having a real -time screen and a camera connection integrated into Android would certainly help attract users interested in an AI assistant to at least try gemini.
And the Google calendar by releasing the functionality is notable because it tries to carve a lead among AI assistants. Although Amazon excited his new “Alexa Plus” update, he has not yet arrived.
Meanwhile, Apple’s improved Siri has been delayed on several occasions. This leaves Google a temporary but very real lead in the AIA assistant race. Gemini, despite all his first hiccups and his rebranding drama (Rip Bard), now does things that neither Alexa nor Siri can equal for the moment.
Google has promised that the ASTRA project will be the “new generation assistant” that everyone wants to use all day. So keep your eyes (and Gemini) peeled so that new features arrive in the coming weeks.
