- More Gemini AI features coming to Google Calendar
- Gemini will now look for free hours for your calls and meetings
- Google Business, Enterprise, and AI Pro for Education users can get it now
Trying to find the best time for a meeting could soon be a thing of the past, thanks to a new Gemini feature coming to Google Calendar.
Now, when you create a new event in the Google Workspace calendar app, Gemini can offer “suggested times” based on the attendee’s availability.
It will offer a number of suggestions based on everyone’s work hours and potential conflicts, then you can review and choose the best slot for everyone.
Gemini in Google Calendar
“Users have a new way to get suggested times when creating a meeting in Calendar,” notes a Google Workspace update blog announcing the launch. “Gemini in Google Calendar helps you identify the best times to meet with everyone if you have access to their calendar.”
If multiple participants decline a meeting invitation, the tool also seeks to make it easier to reschedule your meeting, by offering a banner showing what time everyone is available, allowing you to quickly update the invitation.
The feature is currently rolling out, but will initially only be available to Google Business, Enterprise, and AI Pro for Education users.
The news comes just months after Gmail launched a similar “Help me schedule” feature also aimed at helping users find meeting times that work for everyone.
The feature will be available as a button in the messaging toolbar. Once you click on it, Gemini will automatically suggest available slots based on your Google Calendar, as well as the context of the email.
During meetings, Gemini can generate responses based on meeting captions and other Google Workspace resources with “Ask Gemini in Meet” which augments the enterprise AI tools offered by Google.
