New York mass shooting on Monday struck near his home for sports fans.
Mayor Eric Adams said at a press conference on Tuesday that the shooter, identified as Shane Tamura, seemed to have targeted the National Football League. The shooting occurred in the same building as the league headquarters in Manhattan.
The Giants and the New York Jets play their home games a few kilometers from the League offices, and the two team coaches offered condolences.

“You have all seen what happened at 345 Park Ave. Tragic. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people who were affected in this tragedy, here with the Giants,” said Giants coach Brian Daboll on Tuesday.
Jets’ head coach Aaron Glenn added: “I want it to be a better morning. What happened yesterday at the League office, as organization, our thoughts and our prayers go to all families. It is always difficult to hear things like that and really try to stay focused.
A spokesperson for the New York Police Service confirmed to PK Press Club Digital that Tamura had mentioned the NFL in a manuscript “suicide note, saying that he had a CTE.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred yesterday in New York. 345 Park Avenue is part of our football family, and we, to the NFLPA, extend our sincere condolences and support to the people who work in this building and to the families of those who have lost their lives,” said NFLPA. “We also want to express our deep gratitude to the police and the emergency staff who responded to the people affected.”
Adams said the shooter was trying to go to the NFL headquarters, but had taken the bad elevator bank.
An NFL employee was “seriously injured” during the shooting, said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, in a memo to NFL employees obtained by PK Press Club Digital.

The shooter was found dead on the 33rd floor, where he also killed another woman, with a self-inflicted ball injury. New York police commissioner Jessica Tisch said Tamura had history problems.
