The New York Giants took the third Abdul Carter of Penn State in the general classification with the dream he could one day be in their ring of honor, soliding a place as one of the best players to wear their jersey.
But this jersey will not include number 56 as he wishes.
The number 56 may have belonged to the largest defensive weapon that the NFL has ever seen: Lawrence Taylor. He was withdrawn by the Giants in 1994 to honor the secondary temple second, and he intends to keep him thus despite that Carter mentions his desire to wear it.

Carter, however, uses the comment of “Get another number” of Lawrence as fuel for her own fire before her campaign recruited with Big Blue.

Carter’s commentary arises from Taylor interviewed on the product of the Penn State product just after being drafted by New York.

He spoke to his compatriot Nittany Lion Micah Parsons, the star of Dallas Cowboys Edge Rusher, who will now be an enemy. Parsons and Carter both wore the n ° 11 to Penn State, so the first asked the latter if he transported this tradition to the NFL.

“I know he would love to wear this number,” said Taylor. “But, hey, I think it’s retired. Get another number. I don’t care if it’s double zero, then make it famous.”
The choice of draft in the first round of the Giants, the large receiver Malik Nabers, obtained the blessing of the family of Ray Flaherty last season to bring his number one retired. Thus, a request is not out of the ordinary for the franchise.
But Taylor wants Carter to forge his own path in the NFL and that giant fans remember him for his own number on his back.

Taylor accumulated 142 career bags in 184 games after being taken second in the general classification of the NFL draft in 1981 in North Carolina.
