“I was very shocked when I was asked to play Eleanor Roosevelt,” admitted Gillian.
The 56 -year -old man continued: “She was such an extraordinary woman, and you know, I am five feet three, and she had five or ten feet (laughs). She was just very big, and we watched nothing.”
The crown Star then discussed her problems with the “doubt of self” while she was preparing for the role, admitting: “There was the challenge of this one”.
“First of all, I could not believe that I could do it. I really had to prevent my doubt from embarrassing myself. And yet, the opportunity to play someone like her, and to live in her shoes for a while, was extraordinary,” she added.
Gillian Anderson also revealed that the reason she had taken the role of portraying Eleanor Roosevelt, despite her difficulties, was that she wanted to “study” the life of the former first lady.
“This is part of the achievement of the final objective … You must convince yourself that you can do things that you could not do yet,” she said to the publication, before concluding by saying: “And doing it, or acting as if you can do, suddenly you can, and you are no longer afraid.”
