Have you recently recorded your Google Home devices? It seems that Google Home and Google Nest Gadgets gradually become less reliable and more bulky, and many users evacuate their frustrations abandoning the ecosystem.
A long Thread Reddit details a long list of problems, as an article in Android Authority points out – an article which itself has dozens of comments passing how much Smart Home devices have become.
The problems listed include commands that do not work, automation and routines, audio flows and video flows are not available, and devices that are disconnected, do not talk to each other or are very slow to answer – it is not a nice image.
The complaint of a user that “I can only make it work without a kind of error 25% of time these days” is typical, and many people who record complaints say that they plan to move to different products in the absence of a Google response.

There are not many signs of life from the Google Home and Google Nest ecosystem at the moment. The Nest Protect Smoke Alarm was interrupted in March, and we have not had a new Nest security camera since 2021. For the last launch of Nest Smart in a speaker or smart display, you must return further, until 2020.
We obtained a new nest thermostat last August, but it was only made available in the United States, and the older models are no longer sold in Europe. Add the growing number of reported bugs, and users are understandable.
Google has history to take an interest in something, then abandon it, from Chromecast devices to Google Stadia – which will obviously remove people by investing their time and their money in all that Google offers in the future.
Google’s latest favorite toy is of course Gemini AI, and we may see new devices at smart home with Gemini on board in the future. However, given the little attention that Google recently paid the equipment that it already has in this category, there would be no guarantee of new gadgets would be supported in the long term.
