Giving meaning to the priorities in your work calls could soon be much simpler, thanks to an update assisted by the AI that arrives at Google Meet.
The videoconferencing service has announced that it would now use Gemini to create a “next steps” control list after the end of each call, gathering key actions that require attention to the future.
And in order to make sure that nothing important is missing, Google Meet also makes live legends generated during your calls available up to 30 minutes after their creation, rather than disappearing instantly when the conversation continues.
The next steps on Google meet
The “Next Steps” feature is an extension of the existing tool “Take Notes for me” launched for Google Meet Return in August 2024, which aimed to identify the key points of the discussion and send a summary email after a Call, which allows users.
From now on, the next steps and tracking points will be “identified and organized automatically in the meeting notes document”, with users capable of reviewing and modifying if necessary, and to assign tasks to special people.
“This last improvement in notes will help ensure that important follow -ups are not missed and keep everyone aligned with what will then happen after your meeting”, a blog article on the Google workspace puts day the launch noted.
Users will also be able to scroll through live legends, including legends translated, up to 30 minutes. Google says that this will be particularly useful if you have missed part of the conversation or if you want to consult specific details mentioned earlier in the conversation, with the functionality available for all Google Workspace customers, as well as users with accounts Google Personal.
The two features are now taking place in rapid release fields, although the “Next Steps” feature will take more time to be available for the most part, because Google says it wants to “carefully monitor performance and quality”.
The next steps will be available for users on Google Workspace Business Business and more third, as well as users of the Enterprise standard and more. It will also be available with the Gemini Education Premium complementary module, as well as to all those who previously bought the Gemini Enterprise or the Messaging Messaging Modules.
