- Code found in a recent Google Beta Discus messages
- The new user interface will include recipient names and profile photos, as well as reading receipts in group cats
- We do not know if the new menu will really be published
If you have already sent a message to a group cat hoping that some person sees it, or if you just wanted to be sure that a direct message had been received, the next update of Google messages will be welcome.
The code found in an upcoming version of Google Messages allows a new user interface for the menu details menu, which goes much further than the basic overall view found in the current construction of the Google first messaging application .
It is according to Android Authority, who discovered the new layout of the menu in a recent detangling of Google messages beta – although there is no certainty that these features will go to the full version.
The user interface of the new details adds the possibility of seeing the display name of a recipient and the profile photo and to verify which individual users have read a message sent to a group cat. The new menu also allows you to see the original message when visualizing an answer and directly contact the recipients from the new menu.
Currently, a long press on a message sent opens a small contextual menu, detailing the time and date on which a message was sent and received, its priority status and the telephone numbers of the sender and the recipient.
Above all, the current menu for the details of the message does not stipulate if the recipient really read the message, but only that it was successfully delivered to their phone.
It is not so much a problem in direct messages, where you can count on reading receipts, but in group cats, it can be more difficult to assess the proportion of cat members read your last message – Reading receipts generally only trigger when the whole cat did it.
Google Messages is one of the most popular messaging applications in the world and is the default messaging application on some of the best Android phones, from the Google Pixel 9 series to the Samsung Galaxy S25 range.
As we have previously pointed out, Google has considerably updated Google messages, recently adding new cat deletion features and the possibility of sending you a message on RCS. What do you think of these new message retail tools? Are they useful or do we risk knowing too much? Let us know in the comments below.
