- Google messages finally gets a mention of features, similar to that of WhatsApp and Telegram
- It was spotted for the first time in March, but Android Authority managed to operate the functionality
- Although it works for the most part, it is not quite ready for an official deployment
Google Messages has obtained major upgrades in recent weeks, and the last one seems to be a new function mention for group cats that would make messages to Whatsapp and Telegram.
Speculation that Google worked on a functionality of the mentions was fed when the functionality was Spotted in an apk disassembly by Android Authority in MarchAnd now another disassembly of the same point of sale seems to have confirmed that it was in preparation.
Although Google has not confirmed that a functionality mentions the messages, Android Authority managed to allow the functionality and gave us a first glance.
Based on this new disassembly, the functionality of the mentions works a bit like the one we know in WhatsApp, allowing you to draw attention to any member in a group cat. When you enter the symbol @ in a cat, a list of members of the members will appear and you can select the person you want to mention.
When you send a message that includes a mention, the person’s name will appear in bold and highlighted, and other members of the group cat will be able to press the name to access their profile with DM and call shortcuts.
Although Android Authority has put functionality into service, he encountered certain problems that suggest that Google still has work to do on functionality before being able to be deployed.
The mentions in Google messages have a long way to go
The main problem that the point of sale discovered was that if the functionality of the mentions was normally worked, the member who was mentioned in the text did not receive any notification on their side, as they would usually do with other messaging applications.
It therefore seems that the functionality is always tested in beta version, and there is no indication of the moment when it is deployed – but users of Google Messages have some new features to explore in the signifieds.
More recently, Google Messages has tested more new functions that should be deployed soon, including a feature that allows you to join group cats via links and its long -awaited “delete for everyone” option.
