- Some users report a durability problem with the Google Pixel 9 Pro
- The emblematic camera bar apparently separates from the rear panel
- We contacted Google to comment
User reports indicate that the Google Pixel 9 Pro can have a design defect relating to the emblematic camera bar mounted on its rear panel.
Several users have reported durability problems and problems with the Google Pixel 9 Pro camera bar, which, in the most extreme cases, literally takes off from the rest of the phone.
In a post now deleted on R / Pixel_phones, the user of Reddit Mohiflaz shared images which clearly show the Pixel 9 Pro camera bar separating from the phone chassis.
Phonearena says that Mohiflaz said in the original post they had been careful with the phone, never letting him abandon and keeping him “in a case with a screen protector since the hour, a property”.
The poster also said that it had contacted Google to get support, but had no help because the phone had more than 90 days.
This seems to contradict the limited limited warranty for one year from Google, which covers the defective units for repair or replacement beyond the initial return window of 15 days, a response that aroused significant criticism online.
Mohiflaz has apparently deleted from his Reddit account.
Not the first time
As the Central Android notes, this is not the only time when the R / Pixel_phones sub-dector saw a discourse on this issue. In October 2024, the user lakhip shared a message, with images, detailing how the camera bar of their Google Pixel 9 Pro started to lift on the right side. Fortunately, the user was able to obtain a replacement.
It should be recalled that online complaints generally represent a minority of users, and nothing suggests that this problem is particularly widespread.
In fact, we were so impressed by the Pixel 9 Pro during the tests that we crowned it our phone of the year for 2024 and gave it a place on our list of the best phones, which makes these breakdown reports Camera bar all the more concerning.
We contacted Google to comment on this question and update this article with new information. Hopefully it is just a bump on the road for one of the best Android phones on the market.
