- A new Pixel watch feature has been found in an APK disassembly
- The adaptive load will use AI to load your watch more effectively, extending its lifespan
- The function is already used on pixel phones
Google Pixel watches are still part of our list of the best Android smart watches and mark a lot of opinion, but we are always a little disappointed by the battery life. Compared to watches that last a few days, even the Google Pixel Watch 3 Hours with the still activated display seems a little dull.
A new feature could be added to the Pixel Watch 3 which will improve battery health and overall lifespan, although it will probably not change the duration of your watch between the charges directly. During an apk disassembly, a process in which the code of an application is examined to predict new features that could arrive in the future, Android Authority discovered a piece of hidden code referring to an adaptive load function .
Adaptive load is a functionality powered by automatic learning used on Pixel phones, which learns your load habits and invoices the phone at different prices according to your use. If you connect it overnight, the phone will eventually take care of these moments, while if you tend to complete it at regular intervals, the battery will take charge quickly.
This is done to prolong the overall lifespan of the device, reducing both energy consumption and electronic waste. It also prevents the battery from deteriorating so quickly.
It is not confirmed that the functionality will arrive on Pixel watches, but it would be a welcome addition. We would like the functionality to be pair with an adaptive battery, another pixel functionality which uses a similar automatic learning to put to sleep with little used applications to avoid drainage of the battery. This would extend the life of the watch between the charges, perhaps helping Google to reach the 36-hour figure from Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Approach electronic waste in portable devices
The adaptive load will prevent battery degradation and reduce electronic waste – the two very important problems distressing the world of laptops at the moment. We live in a time when smart watches do not have replaceable batteries, new products are highlighted each year and the old people deteriorate quickly.
Similar problems occur with the best headphones and the best intelligent rings: if smartwatch manufacturers are not willing to create their watches with easily replaceable batteries, extending their lifespan will be the key. And who does not want their gadgets to last longer, which means that they are a better value for money?
