Google has announced its intention to invest $ 9 billion to expand its cloud and AI infrastructure in Oklahoma in the next two years.
As part of the investment of several billion dollars, the company is committed to building a new data center campus in Stillwater and to extend its existing PRYOR data center, which opened in 2011 and received around $ 4.4 billion to date.
Oklahoma citizens will also benefit from a separate financing pot that Google plans to share in several American states to increase the skills in AI.
Google spends billions for Oklahoma Ai
“As part of a broader commitment of a billion dollars towards American education and competitiveness, the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University are part of the first cohort of the AI of Google for education,” the company wrote.
The program will see participants access Google career certificates and other AI training courses.
Recognizing the campuses of the data center come with wider environmental and sustainable impacts, Google is also associated with the Electrical Training Alliance to increase the pipeline of the electric workforce by 135% in anticipation of increased demand in the future.
The president of Google and investment director, Ruth Porat, announced the investment during a visit to the Pryor campus on August 13, 2025, noting: “Google helps to supply a new era of American innovation with our investments in Oklahoma.”
“For almost two decades, Google proudly called Oklahoma Home, starting with our data center in the county of Mayes, our second largest in the world,” added Porat.
Since the construction of its first campus in the state, Google has claims to have invested more than $ 5.7 billion in the state, generating $ 2.2 billion in economic activity for citizens and state companies in only 2024.
The company also equaled 87% of its energy consumption with carbon-free energy in 2022-2023, going from more than 680 MW of clean energy contracts in the state, boasting other achievements such as the reconstruction of water and the advanced efficiency of electricity consumption in its impact study.
