- New AI features coming to Google Calendar
- “Help me plan” aims to make meetings run smoother
- The feature is only available for meetings with two participants
If you find yourself spending a frustrating time talking about meetings, availability, and schedule adjustments to find a time that works for you, you’re in luck.
Gmail with Gemini introduces a new “Help Me Schedule” feature that, you guessed it, will help you book meetings and organize your calendar, making it much easier to find times that work for everyone.
This will be available as a button in the messaging toolbar. Once you click on it, Gemini will automatically suggest available slots based on your Google Calendar, as well as the context of the email.
Customizable with context
You can customize Gemini’s suggestions by adding or removing additional options, then insert them directly into your Gmail message. Once the recipient receives the email, they can choose the time that works best for them, and a calendar invitation will automatically be placed on both calendars.
Often the difficulty in planning comes when you’re trying to put together a group, when everyone has different priorities and schedules. It is therefore important to note that when this feature is launched, it will be not be available for groups, only two people.
“This isn’t just a ‘show me when I’m free’ feature,” Google’s statement explains.
“Gemini takes the context of the email into account: if someone requests a 30-minute meeting next week, it will suggest half-hour slots before the end of the week that fit your schedule. You can edit the suggestions, insert them directly into your email, and when the recipient chooses a time, the calendar invitation automatically appears on both calendars.”
During meetings, Gemini can generate responses based on meeting captions and other Google Workspace resources with “Ask Gemini in Meet” powering AI tools for Google enterprise offerings.
