The Balochistan government has ordered a transparent investigation into the tragic Zehri incident, ensuring strict action against those responsible.
According to reports, gunmen launched a daring attack on Tehsil Zehri Main Bazaar in Khuzdar district on Wednesday morning, setting fire to several government buildings, including a Levies Force post, Nadra and municipal committee offices, as well as a bank, after taking control. control of the area.
Authorities reported that around 80 militants entered the area around 11 p.m. from nearby mountains. They positioned armed men around the bazaar and other key locations in the Zehri tehsil headquarters, setting up checkpoints around the bazaar and establishing pickets in the mountains to block any intervention by security forces.
The militants stormed Levies station, took staff hostage, looted records and set fire to the building, causing damage to the structure, furniture and other items inside.
Later, the gunmen attacked a branch of a private bank, took staff hostage and looted more than 90 million rupees from the vault, bank officials in Quetta reported.
Government ministers including Sardar Abdul Rahman Khan, Mir Shoaib Nowsherwani, Dr Ruba Buledi and other members of the assembly strongly condemned the incident. They said the government was fully committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring they face legal consequences.
