Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equip young people in Pakistan with modern digital skills, saying that all possible support is provided to increase their technological expertise.

He made these remarks during the presidency of an examination meeting in Lahore on Sunday concerning an initiative aimed at training 300,000 young people in information and communication technologies (ICT) in collaboration with Huawei Technologies. Huawei representatives also attended the session.

The meeting evaluated the progress of the agreements signed with Huawei in China last year and discussed strategies to extend the training of digital skills across the country.

Shehbaz Sharif stressed that young people play a crucial role in conducting technological progress, adding that the ICT training program would not only improve IT exports but also create job possibilities.

As part of the initiative, Huawei will train the Pakistani youth in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing and other advanced technologies. Until now, 20,315 students have undergone training as part of the program.

Managers informed the Prime Minister that ICT training portal will be launched to provide access to online learning to participants. Sharif asked the authorities to ensure rapid implementation of the initiative and make the portal widely accessible.

He also ordered that the program be extended to all provinces, including cashmere and gilgit-berthtan, to maximize its scope.

Huawei representatives reaffirmed their commitment to launching advanced training programs in Pakistan and trainers of local masters of competence to train young people at local level.
