The federal government has ordered all ministries and divisions to return unused funds for the financial year during April 30, 2025. The decision was taken within the framework of the process of preparing for the next federal budget for the financial year 2025-26.

According to sources from the Ministry of Finance, clear instructions have been issued to all the main accounting managers (ITP) between the ministries and the divisions, fixing the deadline of April 30 to ensure the recovery of the planned excess funds for the financial year 2024-25.

Officials said this decision follows the directives published by the Public Accounts Committee. The Ministry of Finance stressed that the timely return of these funds is essential not only to finalize the revised estimates for the current financial year, but also to strengthen the projections of the future federal budget.

The returned funds should include the economies of civil government spending, grants and development allowances.

In accordance with the ministry’s figures, the total development budget for the current financial year has been set at RS1100 billion. However, only 450 billion rupees have been spent so far. The remaining unattractive funds will be reassigned to sectors that require immediate financial support.

The Ministry of Finance reiterated its commitment to ensuring prudent budget management and an effective allocation of resources while it is preparing for the new fiscal year.
