The federal government has published the details of a five -year development plan – Uraan Pakistan – estimated at RS17 Billion, whose objective, according to the Federal Minister of Planning, Ahsan Iqbal, is to make Pakistan economic.
Under the plan, the federal share will be 7 billions of rupees, while the provinces will contribute to 10 rumors of rupees.
Ahsan Iqbal said that the objective was to transform Pakistan into an economy of 3 dollars by 2047. For this, the development budget for the next 2025-26 fiscal year has been set at 4.2 billions of rupees. As part of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP), the government has allocated RS1 million federal financing rupees.
The government allocated 33 billion rupees for the Diamer-Bhasha dam; RS35 billion for the Mohmand dam; 100 billion rupees for the Quetta-Karachi highway; 25 billion rupees for the Indus route; 15 billion rupees for the Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway and 10 billion rupees for the Karachi K-IV Water project.
In the education sector, the government has affected 9 billion rupees for Danish schools and 4.3 billion rupees for the Prime Minister’s skills program. He allocated RS1 billion for the treatment of hepatitis C and 800 million rupees for diabetes.
The government has reduced the number of federal projects for the next five years by 1,071 to 800, eliminating low priority and inactive projects. This reduction should save the national treasure from 2.73 billions of rupees. The federal development portfolio has now been limited to RS12.8 Billions.
The government has also created national centers for nanotechnology, quantum computing and new industries, laying the foundations for creating a “quantum valley” in Pakistan.
According to the report, inflation increased from 11.8% to 3.5% in May 2025 while the surplus of the current account reached $ 1.9 billion. Shipments of funds also increased by 31%, reaching a total of $ 31.2 billion and the budget deficit rose from 3.7% to 2.6%
By eliminating unnecessary projects, the government saved 5.4 billion rupees in April only and 27 projects were approved or offered in May 2025.
The Minister of Planning said that 210 of the 240 PSDP projects had been fully assessed. Consultations for development partnerships have taken place with the Asian Development Bank (BAD), the Asian Investment Bank in Infrastructure (AIIB) and the World Bank.
