Lahore: In the possible dissemination of political tensions in Punjab, the government and the opposition have formed their respective negotiation committees to maintain dialogue on the question of the disqualification of the speaker against the members of the latter in the Punjab assembly, the familiar sources with the case said on Saturday.
With the second session of the negotiation committees which should take place on Sunday (tomorrow), the talks, if successful, could lead to the speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan abandoning the reference of disqualification.
The government side will be led by Mujtaba Shuja Ur Rehman and would include Salman Rafic, Rana Arshad, Samiullah, Ahmed Iqbal, Ali Haider Gilani, Shafay Hussain and Shoaib Siddiqui. Meanwhile, the opposition committee would include Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar, Ali Imtiaz, Sheikh Imtiaz and Ejaz Shafi.
Last week, the speaker had filed the reference to disqualification with the Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) against 26 AMP on the heckling, the sloganing, the cries and the tear of the documents in the chamber during the budgetary session.
The reference filed against the MPA supported by PTI includes Malik Farhad Masood, Muhammad Tanveer Aslam, Syed Riffat Mehmood, Yasir Mehmood Qureshi, Kaleem Ullah Khan, Muhammad Ansar Iqbal, Ali Asif, Zulfiqar Ali, Ahmad Mujtaba Chaudhary, Shahid Javed, Muhmad Mujtaba Khayal Ahmad.
Shahbaz Ahmad, Tayyab Rashid, Imtiaz Mehmood, Ali Imtiaz, Rashid Tufail, Muhammad Murtaza Iqbal, Khalid Zubair Nisar, Ch Muhammad Ejaze Ali Gujjar.
In addition, 10 opposition legislators had been condemned to a fine of more than RS2 million for acts of vandalism such as the rupture of microphones in accordance with relevant video evidence.
Those who have a fine include Chaudhary Javed Kausar, Asad Abbas, Tanveer Aslam, Riffat Mehmood, Muhammad Ismael, Shahbaz Ahmad, Imtiaz Mehmood, Khalid Zubair, Rana Aourang Zaib and Muhammad Ahsan Ali – all who will have RS203,550.
