Govt to dissolve Imran’s flagship project

Islamabad:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to dissolve Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority (Naphda), a flagship project of the government of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Reliable sources have confirmed that PM Sharif has decided to finish the authority, a national construction organization responsible for planning, development, construction and management of real estate projects across the country.

In this regard, the contract of Major General (RETD) Amir Aslam Khan, the current president of Naphda, has not been renewed.

Meanwhile, Captain (RETD) Muhammad Zafar Iqbal was appointed acting president of the authority. His appointment will be for a period of three months, according to a notification issued by the establishment’s division.

According to the notification, the Captain (Retd) Iqbal will hold additional costs as an acting president for three months, either until a permanent appointment is made.

IQBAL is a BS-20 Officer of Pakistan Administrative Service and is currently Managing Director of the Federal Government Employey Housing Authority.

The authority had an annual budget of 400 million rupees, and in the past five years, its total budget has reached 2 billion rupees, but its production has remained zero, added sources.

The Naphda was created on January 15, 2020. The Pakistan Senate adopted the Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority bill in 2019.
