Govt to revise the list of prohibited entities

The Minister of State in Law and Justice, Aqeel Malik, said that the government would revise its list of organizations prohibited with the help of American agencies, including the State Department.

He added that individuals related to these groups could face travel restrictions.

Speaking on a private news channel the other day, Aqeel said that the Pakistanis would not be subject to a travel ban.

“People do not need to worry that there is a visa ban in Pakistan or that they are refused entry,” he said. “We are not looking at a pure and simple ban that Pakistanis enter the United States.”

He noted that Pakistan and the United States had to update their lists of prohibited organizations.

“The list of proscribed groups must be updated, and I am sure that the State Department will also update its own lists,” said Aqeel.

“We will share information with them – there is intelligence sharing – and on the basis of our list, they will also update their lists on prohibited Pakistani organizations,” he said.

“If individuals maintain links with these organizations, their entry can be refused and their visas can be dismissed.”

To respond to concerns, the Minister reiterated that ordinary Pakistanis would not face travel restrictions.
