GPD unveiled victory 5, a portable PC that rides the line between the portable game console and the mobile workstation.
With its compact factor, the device is powered by the powerful Ryzen AI Max + 395 APU of AMD (Strix Halo), a processor that has so far appeared mainly in Mini PCS and only a handful of laptops, including the Zbook Ultra 14 G1A of Asus, Rog Flow Z13 and EM-959-NM16’s of Asus.
While victory 5 seems good and contains a lot of power, its price planned – around $ 2,000 – will put it firmly in passionate territory.
Double fan cooling
The Ryzen AI Max + 395 is built on the 4 NM TSMC process and has 16 Zen 5 and 32 Threads processor cores, spanning up to 5.1 GHz. There is a Radeon 8060 GPU with 40 calculation units operating at 2.9 GHz.
The chip also offers an acceleration of the AI, with 16 summits of its NPU and 38 high combined with CPU performance.
To keep this equipment under control, the Win 5 uses a double fan cooling system, which offers coherent thermal management even under heavy loads, which would otherwise be a concern for such a small device.
The pocket computer supports up to 128 GB of RAM LPDDR5X at 8000 MHz and NVME PCIe 4.0 SSD Options from 1 TB to 4 TB.
Storage can be exchanged in the rear panel, and mini SSD microSD extension locations are included.
The display is a 7-inch H-IPS touch screen with a 1920×1080 resolution with a 120 Hz cooling rate and a premium freesync support.
Wireless connectivity includes Wifi 6th and Bluetooth 5.3. The ports include two USB-C (one at USB 3.2 speeds and another at USB 4 with support for external GPUs), a 3.5 mm audio socket and card locations.
Despite its undeniable power, the device weighs only 565 grams and measures 267 x 111 mm, which makes it smaller than a steam bridge.
The 80Wh battery supports the fast load up to 180 W.
Win 5 looks like a standard portable game system, with double analog sticks, a D-PAD, triggers and action buttons, but includes extras like a fingerprint reader.
GPD Win 5 Mobile Workstation PC will be available for purchase worldwide from October 17, 2025.
