- Game pocket prototype with AMD Ryzen Ai Max + 395 inside
- Stix Halo offers a triple performance of current laptop solutions
- GPD could combine console class graphics with AI treatment at the workstation
GPD made a name for itself by building compact game consoles and ultra-portable laptops, often blurring the lines between the console and the PC.
Its devices, like the Win and Pocket Line series, found the favor of enthusiasts looking for performance in tight form factors and, in 2024, GPD has widened its range with a double screen laptop for creators – we even said that the GPD duo “could be the best mobile workstation of all time.”
Now, a newly disclosed image identified by Video suggests that GPD could prepare something much more ambitious – a game laptop fed by Ryzen Ai Max + 395 APU, Ryzen Ai Max + 395.

Concerns of energy efficiency
The prototype “GPD STX HALO HANDHELD”, shared on X by HXL (see above), shows a TIMESPY 3DMARK score of 10,393, with a graphic score of 10,366 and a CPU score of 10,552. It is a steep jump of what current pocket computers based on Stix can achieve.
The chip inside, which is a Ryzen Ai Max + 395 with the graphics Radeon 8060s, contains 16 CPU zen nuclei 5 and 40 DNA 3.5 DNA calculation units.
It is the most powerful integrated GPU of AMD to date, offering more than double the GPU equipment found in fleas like the Ryzen 7 8840U or 8945HS.
Based on the reference figures in the image of HXL, the GPD prototype could surpass current pocket computers by a wide margin.
Energy efficiency remains a concern, however. As the Videocardz note, Strix Halo has a default TDP of 120W, which would normally be too much for a pocket computer. Architecture can however reach 20-25W, and early tests indicate that it always retains an advantage of performance on the point of Stix even when it is strangled.
It is not clear if it is about to be a final product or simply an internal test unit because GPD has not yet made official announcements.
That said, the prototype indicates a possible future where pocket consoles offer office class power, and we are certainly there for that.
