- The Asus GPU Tweak III software informs users of GPU Rog Astral of all Sag GPU potential
- It is possible thanks to a gyroscope and an integrated accelerometer
- The function seems to be unavailable in the latest version of the application
Given the multitude of NVIDIA and the AMD third -party GPUs which are delivered with different conceptions and sizes, GPU SAG is an undeniable problem (even if the recent RTX 5000 series was largely a movement in the right direction from the RTX 4090 comic). Fortunately, a manufacturer of GPU and a popular motherboard has introduced a solution – finally, in a way.
As reported by Videocardz, the GPUs of the ROG Astral RTX 5000 ‘ROG series have a “equipment installation check” functionality in the TWEAK III GPU software, which alerts users if their GPU has tilted or moved. This is made possible thanks to an integrated gyroscope and accelerometer, effectively helping to detect Sag GPU.
What is strange is that this feature was not included in any of the GPUs Rog Astral GPU Marketing. GPU TWEAK III, GPU monitoring and adjustment software has several features to prevent problems, such as Power Detector +, which indicates any potential problem with the 12VHPWR cable – but this GPU SAG preventive measure has just been discovered by users.
It may be even more confusing: depending on the Asus forums, the equipment verification function is no longer available in the latest version of the software. It is not clear if the omission was entirely intentional at the moment, but it is a characteristic that GPU and motherboard manufacturers should consider including in the future.
I see this as a victory, and I hope that other manufacturers can follow suit …
There is nothing worse than finding your PC components damaged due to cases of surveillance or precautions necessary to forget: that is why GPU SAG should be taken much more seriously.
Fortunately, I never happened since I had my priority to get a good anti-sag stand (I use a large enough GPU), but it is easy to see potential damage to the PCIe slot or GPU itself in the long term if there is no support in your case for a heavy graphics card.
It is a different conversation if you use a GPU RISSE cable (in a mini -itx construction, for example) because the card can be placed vertically to mitigate the concerns of subsidence – but good luck by placing some of the modern costugms GPU today in these cases.
Of course, this will not apply to all GPU owners, because it seems to be heavier GPUs are mainly third -end tires to compensate for cooling: the main examples are my current GPU, the ASUS TUF RTX 4080 Super, a triple slot card and the ROG Astral RTX 5090.
It is good to see that ASUS even thought of a functionality to at least inform users of any sagging or movement: according to my experience, it is not always easy to say if your GPU is sagging, so even if some could see it as an absurd addition, I maintain that it is worth applauding.
However, he has disappeared at the moment and no one knows if he will come back: if he does not come back (which, I will be shocked), then I will hope that other GPU manufacturers will have at least.
