- Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke with IGN following the latest Grand Theft Auto 6 delay
- GTA6 will now be released on November 19, 2026
- Zelnick is “very confident” about the new date
Grand Theft Auto 6 has received another delay that pushes the highly anticipated hit title from May 2026 to November 19, 2026. This is the second delay after the initial Fall 2025 release window.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke with IGN before the company released its latest earnings call. When asked how confident he felt about the new release date of November 19, 2026, Zelnick responded that he was “very confident.”
Zelnick went on to explain the reasoning behind the latest push: “And at the same time, there were limited circumstances where more time was needed to polish a title and make sure it was spectacular and that time was well spent. When our competitors go to market before something is ready, bad things happen.”
As the IGN article notes, Zelnick expressed a similar sentiment before a previous delay, when GTA6 was moved from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026.
Asked about the prospect of GTA6 being delayed from its original date of fall 2025, Zelnick responded “Look, there’s always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you screw things up,” he added “So we feel really good.”
Rockstar announced the news of the latest GTA6 delay on X, explaining that “the additional months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you expect and deserve.”

The studio recently fired more than 30 employees across its offices in the U.K. and Canada, which parent company Take-Two called “for serious misconduct,” according to Bloomberg. Rockstar Games alleges this was due to former employees “distributing and discussing confidential information in a public forum.”
GTA6 will now launch on November 19, 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series X. A PC version has not yet been announced.
