Gujranwala leads the Punjab in tax resumption

The excise, taxation and the drug control department Gujranwala obtained the highest tax resumption among all Punjab districts during the 2024-25 fiscal year. Against an objective of 3.66 billion rupees, the ministry collected more than 4.52 billion rupees, exceeding its objective of significant margin, according to officials.

The offcasts said that the performance had been made possible thanks to a strategy led by the Director’s excise and the Sobia Malik taxation to keep all the ministerial teams alert throughout the year.

The major contributions come from the tax on motor vehicles, the property tax, the professional tax and the accused rights sectors.

During the year, the ministry collected Rs 2.39 billion tax on motor vehicles, exceeding the target of Rs 0.87 billion. In the land tax category, the collections reached 1.5 billion rupees, while the professional tax collections amounted to Rs955.2 million.

Other recovery included RS510.3 million in the “highway” category, 104.9 million rupees from high -value residential properties and 60.5 million rupees by excise duties.

Director Sobia Malik said the tax objectives had been increased during the current financial year. She underlined the ministry’s commitment to achieve higher objectives. It qualified the exception of the performance of the teams involved in the collections of motor vehicles and property tax.
