Gus Kenworthy, a British-American Olympic skier who is representing Great Britain at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games, doubled down on his criticism of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Monday.
Kenworthy posted a graphic photo that said “F— ICE” in urine as he stood over the phrase. He said in the video posted to his Instagram that he had received a lot of “horrible” messages since sharing the photo.

He argued that it was important to “stand up for what we believe in and stand up for justice.”
“I also think there’s a lot of nuance, and I feel like sometimes people forget that,” he said. “So I just want to remind everyone that, for example, you can love the United States and be proud to be an American – I am – and still think it can be better and still think the country can improve.
“And just because you love America doesn’t mean you stand with this administration and support its policies and its legislation and support the things that it supports. Because I don’t support and I don’t support ICE. And I think it’s absolutely wrong and horrible and terrifying. There are American citizens who have been murdered in the street, executed in the street, and the officers are essentially acting with impunity because their identities are covered up.”

Kenworthy claimed that ICE agents were “racially profiling, rounding up black and brown people and kidnapping them, putting them in unmarked vehicles without arrest warrants or probable cause.”
“They’re being detained without any sort of due process. It’s crazy. It’s scary. And people are being sent to countries they’re not even from. And American citizens are being trapped.
“And I think the vast majority of people who are targeted are good people, hard-working people, who are non-violent and don’t have a criminal history and who just came to the United States looking for a better life. And that’s literally the fundamental story of the United States. We’re a country of immigrants, and that’s the American dream. And I think people forget that sometimes.”
