It’s official – Lazarus of Harlan Coben arrives at Prime Video on October 22, with the six episodes that should fall on the streaming service at the same time. Featuring Bill Nighy and Sam Claflin, the new crime thriller will follow a medical examiner (Claflin) who is investigating the murders of Cold-Case after his return to his family home after the death of his father (Nighy).
The bodies of crime among us will know that it is far from the first time that we have been able to broadcast a story of Coben. Deceive,, I miss youAnd Stay close are all among those adapted from his novels. The difference is that we have generally released crime dramas on Netflix for a few years.
So why Lazarus Crossed with the first -rate video? Not only is the answer much simpler than you think, but it will be easier than ever for new and old fans to watch the new series, and that’s a good thing.
Lazarus de Harlan Coben is not the first adaptation that was made for Amazon
To watch
Refund your mind to 2018. Coben had just signed a five-year agreement with Netflix to adapt 14 of its existing novels for the streaming service, which include the titles I mentioned above. As they started to appear from 2020 (starting with Foreigner), he officially reached the end of the five -year period.
But even before that, Coben Shelter had already been adapted to Prime Video in 2023 (you can catch the trailer above). Because Mickey Bolitar’s books were not part of what was described in the Netflix contract, Coben had a free total reign to do this. Two years later, and it apparently started a brand new streaming partnership.
It is also worth keeping in mind that Lazarus Will not be an adaptation of an existing book, but rather comes from a script written by Coben and Danny Brocklehurst. This is another enormous difference compared to television programs that we have seen before, and highlights a new avenue of original ideas that the main video partnership can explore.
Personally, I think Coben switching from Netflix to Prime Video is an incredibly intelligent decision. We will never lose the content bank created for the first, but Prime Video is a service that has many occasional viewers thanks to its connection with Amazon Prime. My grandmother can watch Lazarus, just like my mother, alongside those who now think that the other best streaming services are a scam and wish to cancel their subscriptions.
Even me, who would not normally revolve towards a crime procedure, I feel more forced to give Lazarus There is. And that, my friends, is an informed corporate planning.
