Harry Styles is literally fleeing the daily realities of super stardom.
In a cover story for The world of runners published on March 3, the musician and marathon runner opened up about the unexpected benefits of running, including avoiding awkward encounters with people who might recognize him.
“The main thing is that you’re always moving. You can take a turn anywhere,” Styles, 31, said. “I think with people seeing me, it’s a little more, ‘Was that…’ rather than ‘Oh look, it’s him!’ And at that point, you’re already gone,” he added.
The former One Direction star is an avid runner and has even completed marathons in Tokyo and Berlin.
“When I run, that’s when I have…time to think a lot about what I’m doing and other things in my life too,” Styles explained.
THE Opening The singer admitted that he started saying no to everything he was invited to because of his fame. Eventually, he wondered if he was just stuck in his comfort zone. “When you shut down to protect yourself from people who might bring negativity into your life, you also miss out on positive experiences,” he said.
After keeping a low profile for three years, Styles is gearing up for his musical comeback as he prepares to release his album, Kiss all the time. Disco, occasionally, released March 6.
