HDap warns against the shortage of vital medical devices

Hospitals and laboratories face a serious shortage of essential medical equipment. Drap has interrupted the extension of the recording of imported medical devices, preventing importers from recommending new equipment.

According to Muhammad Umar, founding member of the Healthcare Devices Association of Pakistan (HDAP), 90% of medical devices are imported. Since the complex recording process is not completed in time, a major crisis could occur.

Muhammad Umar said DRAP had ended the extension of the registration of imported medical devices. Consequently, hospitals, laboratories and health centers may undergo a serious shortage of vital medical devices.

Drap has imposed a ban on imports, which could lead to a critical shortage of medical supplies ranging from syringes to large test machines in hospitals.

Muhammad Umar described this as a national health crisis.
