The metropolis experiences extreme heat during the celebrations of Eidul Fitr, with temperatures which should reach 41 ° C on the third day of the festivities, according to the meteorological department of Pakistan (PMD).
The PMD has planned hot and dry conditions in the next 24 hours, with mercury likely to vary between 39 ° C and 41 ° C. The winds blowing from the north at a speed of 8 km / h have a humidity level of 53%.
The officials had previously warned that the country would experience temperatures above normal during Eid, with a potential increase from 2 ° C to 4 ° C in various regions.
The Met Office advised residents to remain hydrated, limit outdoor activities and keep water to alleviate the effects of increasing heat.
According to the latest PMD opinion, Karachi temperatures should be between 39 and 41 ° C Wednesday, 40-42 ° C Thursday and 40-42 ° C Friday.
Meanwhile, temperature readings in major Pakistani cities today are:
-
Islamabad: 7 ° C
-
Lahore: 10 ° C
-
Karachi: 19 ° C
-
Peshawar: 9 ° C
-
Quetta: 1 ° C
-
Gilgit: 0 ° C
-
Murrier: 3 ° C
-
Muzaffarabad: 8 ° C
On the other hand, residents of Lahore and other parts of Punjab are experiencing a regular increase in temperatures when dry time admits the province, according to PMD.
The officials said on Wednesday that no precipitation was expected over the next two to three days. The drought period should continue, increasing the intensity of heat, especially on the third day of Eid.
In Lahore, temperatures should vary between 17 ° C and 33 ° C. The gradual increase has already caused greater use of cooling devices in homes and offices.
“The hot and dry conditions are likely to persist, without immediate sign of precipitation,” said a spokesperson for the Met Office.
