The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Monday that Karachi remained at the grip of a heat wave, with high temperatures that should persist in the next 24 hours.

According to the Met Office, maximum temperatures in the city should vary between 39 ° C and 41 ° C, while the minimum recorded temperature was 25 ° C.

Relative humidity has reached around 46%, accompanied by dry northwest winds blowing at a speed of 4 kilometers per hour.

The department indicated that the heat wave is likely to persist in the city until April 23, urging the public to remain hydrated.

Meanwhile, several other rural Sindh districts also continue to deal with intense heat, Jacobabad recording 43 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours and Shaheed Benazirabad reaching 42 degrees Celsius.

Other parts in northern Pakistan, including Swat and Mingora, have experienced strong precipitation and thunderstorms late Sunday evening Sunday evening, providing temporary relief and cooler temperatures.

The Met Office has also planned strong winds and isolated Thoners for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan today.

Earlier Sunday, PMD spokesperson Anjum Nazir Zaighum, explained that the Western system had disturbed the normal air flow, causing the heat wave.

He noted that the navy breeze could come back after sunset, but if it was inactive during the hours of clarity, the conditions could worsen more.

The department had advised residents to take precautions, urging people to stay inside during peak heat, limit travel, stay hydrated and protect vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and women.
