Police arrested a man and his wife suspected of being responsible for the alleged torture who led to the death of the girl in the city of Gulshan-E-Iqbal of the city.
According to the district police officer, Irfan Samo, the victim, a resident of Kotla Pathan, was employed as a domestic aid at the residence of a man named Shahram for three years.
Worrying details have emerged on the death of Samia, the authorities indicating that it has succumbed to the violence inflicted by its employers.
In an attempt to hide the crime, Samia’s mother was informed of her daughter’s “sudden death” and received the body wrapped in a shout late in the night.
When he returned home, the mother discovered serious signs of torture on Samia’s body and quickly alerted the police, leading to a quick investigation into the issue.
DPO Samo confirmed that the police had led a timely raid, apprehending the alleged couple who had tried to flee.
The girl’s body has since been given to her family after a post mortem exam. The first medical results revealed evidence of severe violence inflicted on the girl on her whole body, further strengthening allegations of torture.
Police surveys are underway while the incident triggered indignation and again put the critical question of children’s domestic work and the urgent need for robust protections for vulnerable children.
