Apple is developing an AI wearable: here’s everything we know about the Humane AI-style AI pin

Apple, the iPhone maker, is working on its own AI wearable device, which would be a pin that users can attach to their clothing, equipped with two cameras and three microphones.

Information about Apple’s upcoming AI gadget came to light in a report published by The Information on Wednesday.

As word spreads about the vast AI wearable device market, it is expected to intensify competition in the sector.

The development was initially disclosed by Chris Lehane, OpenAI’s director of global affairs, who said at an event in Davos that the company would announce its highly anticipated first AI hardware device in the second half of 2026.

It is also speculated that it could be a pair of headphones, TechCrunch reported.

Apple’s next AI device is described as a “thin, flat circular disk with an aluminum and glass shell,” designed to be about the size of an AirTag, but slightly thicker.

The device is designed to integrate two cameras, one with a standard lens and another with a wide-angle lens, to capture images and videos.

It might as well include a physical button, speaker, and Fitbit-like charging strip on the back.

There is a good chance that the tech giant will accelerate the development of this product, given that OpenAI is also working on its own AI gadget. The device is expected to debut in 2027, with an initial launch of 20 million units.

Despite all that has been said, time will confirm how well this type of AI device will be received by consumers.

This reminds us of a similar AI pin, Humane AI, launched last year by two former Apple employees, but it struggled to garner consumer acclaim and interest and ultimately folded.
