Here’s how much salary advances federal employees can receive under the new rules

The Ministry of Finance has clarified that federal government employees will be eligible for housing construction advances under the new Federal Government Revenue and Payment Rules 2025, with officers entitled to 24 months’ salary and staff members entitled to 36 months’ salary.

According to a memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance, civil servants from grade 1 to grade 16 fall into the “staff” category, while those from grade 17 and above are classified as “officers.”

The department said that whenever federal employees request an advance for the construction of a home, payment will be made in accordance with the 2025 Federal Government Receipts and Payments Rules.

He added that under the new regulations, staff members are entitled to an advance equivalent to 36 months of their basic salary, while officers are entitled to an amount equal to 24 months of their basic salary as advance for the construction of accommodation.

The clarification is intended to standardize the process and ensure equitable implementation of the advance payment policy for all federal employees.
